THE VILLE OF TOWNS

AKA the "3B'S"

Just got back to the isa from my little jaunt to the coast - wat an awesome time!

As soon as i got off the plane at Townsville on saturday, Dan drove me straight down to The Strand. I got out and was so excited to see the green grass, the sand & the ocean! (Never thought I'd be that excited about lawn ever!) LOL I took my shoes off and ran on the grass, kicked some sand in my face on the beach haha and paddled my feet in the water. We headed over on the ferry to Magnetic Island. Our resort was right there as we got off the ferry and i could tell by the reception area with the day beds etc it was pretty damn swanky, but it still blew my mind when we got to our room, sorry 'apartment'. they had upgraded us to a 3bedroom, 2bathroom suite (why we needed that for just the 2 of us who knows) and it was absolutely magnificent!

Brand new, gorgeous furniture, opening out onto the pool on one side and the marina on the other, with our own private plunge pool.

A massive bath in the main bedroom and a huge shower room etc, it was out of control (in a totally good way!).

I have never even SEEN anything like it in my life, let alone stayed in something like that. The photos don't even do it any justice. I said to Dan that he had set the bar pretty high by that being the first hotel he took me to!!

On our way walking to the bottleshop we passed the mini moke hire place, so we went in & bargained them down to hire a moke for the arvo.

We hooned around in that for a while, exploring the island, it was maddd. Although the brakes were a bit shit, and I wasnt surprised to hear a bloke crashed & died a couple of weeks ago, but nar it was mad fun. At the jetty there was a bunch of scabby looking tiny kangaroo things which looked a bit like rats, so we named them "RATAROOS"

We had a couple of bevvies and a game of pool at Picnic Bay then had dinner at what we called the 'gangster' italian restaurant, the name just sounds like a gangster don't u think (say it with a strong italian accent)

We had spaghetti & a lovely bottle of red, it was delish and divine.
Back at the apartment we were going to have a dip in the pool but the water was freezing so we only stayed in there for about 45 seconds before deciding to run a nice hot bubble bath instead. SO. GOOD.

After breakfast with all the yachting folk (there was a big regatta on @ the Island all week), we picked up the scooters we'd hired for the day. We were chatting to another bloke hiring one too, and our 3 bikes all came out together. The bikes all have names apparently, i got the pink one "Lil Miss", Dan's was named "Bruce" and old mate got the red one called "Axel". Of course from then on in, the guy was known to us as Axel, and we were Bruce & Lil Miss. LOLZ. We went cruising around the island. Dan is a hoon. We raced and i won going uphill, but he killed me going down, since i was so scared I rode my brakes all the way down and Dan caned it as fast as he could.

We decided to hire a jetski & as we were booking it, Axel turned up, he was hiring one too. (Small island much?) The jetski was FREAKIN AMAZING!! So powerful its crazy. It was soo much fun! And of course Dan is a maniac jetski driver too - he was doing mad donuts and hooning over the chop he created. It was a mission to hold on for my life on the back of the jetski! It was so rough, at one point we both flew off & the jetski nearly flipped, and Dan managed to buck me off another 2 times. The fact that I manged to stay on as much as i did shows i have some serious bull riding skillz & could think about taking it up as a profession ha. I got a bit of my own back when i took a turn at driving it - i think Dan got quite a rude shock when he realised how hard it was to hang on at the back when you're flipping in the air left & right lol. He thought I was a crazy driver, but i was quite tame compared to what he was putting me through. We were utterly exhausted & starving by the end of that and enjoyed lunch at Horseshoe Bay.

We scooted around a bit more then said our goodbyes to Lil Miss & Bruce and kicked back in our apartment for a bit. I jumped in the plunge pool (Dan was too chicken, it was too cold in there) then we got ready for dinner in the resort restaurant. I've got Dan enjoying the red wine now, and we had another beautiful evening of dinner & vino before crashing, ready to leave on the early a.m. ferry as Dan had to go to work.

Dan was fully tired as he barely slept - he woke in the night with a razorblade throat & unable to swallow which kept him up and even throwing up half the night. He felt like shit & tired so decided he couldn't go to work, so he went to the doctors & got a certificate. We had lunch, found an awesome hair/beauty factory outlet where i got all the stuff John needs to give the Isa an abundance of stylin hairs then I dropped Dan back at the motel and went off on my own to HIT THE SHOPS!!! HARD!! I shopped LIKE A MAD WOMAN! Considering the only places to shop in the Isa are Kmart & Jay Jays, I was in sensory overload and just frenetically racing from shop to shop. Jeanswest! Oh how I've missed you!! The bitchez there just kept putting stuff in front of me LOL. I bought clothes, perfume, pandora charms (noone in the Isa sells them), CD's etc it was AWESOME LOL. After a manic couple of hours the shops started to close (how rude)so I had to leave.

We were going to have Indian or Thai for dinner (again -neither of them in the Isa) but they were both closed so we ended up going to a very posh waterfront restaurant on the strand. My fave bottle of red atm (Penfolds Bin 138 GSM for those of u playing at home) which i normally pay $19.99 for was $65 on the wine list just to give u an idea of the kind of restaurant we're talking about here LOL. The meal was beautiful (of course) and another great evening. The 'croquette potato' with Dan's steak made us laugh - One potato ball haha how funny

With Dan all dosed up on Strepsils & Aspro Clear I dropped him off at work the next day and stopped in via the strand at the great coffee shop we had found. The chick gave me a free coffee which was awesome. I went home & showered and packed and returned to the shops. I started off with a Boost Juice (yes, something else u can't get in Mt Isa). I tried the Indian/Thai option again but neither was open for lunch. I hit a different shopping centre but the thrill had gone a bit LOL maybe tempered by the realisation that I was going home in a few hours, leaving the 3B's (the Beach, the Bargains and the Boy). The fact that I maxxed out one of my credit cards prob didn't help either lol. I got a felafel kebab (yes, you guessed it, felafels are also unheard of in the Isa) and Dan got an early mark from work YAY! so i went back and met him at the motel.

Eventually the time arrived when i had to leave - happy to be headin home of course but not quite ready to give up any of the 3B's just yet. Dan spent so much money, spoilt me rotten & treated me like a princess all weekend. I could quite get used to this. But i do appreciate every second and every cent he spent with me & don't take any minute of our 4 days together for granted. I had a great time and I will definitely go back to Gronksville again!

Back from the dead

HI ! No i didn't fall into a mine....... i know it's been a while but i've been pretty busy living this life thing.

I'll try n be a little less slack, but honestly, I make no promises...... i am notoriously hopeless, let's face it. Although for the first time EVER I actually sent a birthday card WHICH GOT THERE BEFORE THE BIRTHDAY IN QUESTION!!! I don't think this has ever actually happened before in my life LOL. Tammy nearly fell over backwards hahaha
On the other hand though, i forgot about Elizabeth & Andy's birthdays so lots of belated birthday wishes to you both. ekks ohh ekks etc

Well what's happened since I last blogged.... srsly, wat hasn't happened?? Life is just out of control. Mostly in a good way. I had a bit of drama with one of the bouncers at work, but it's been a couple of weeks now and hopefully that is all over with. It messed with my head a bit at the time and caused me to make a stupid comment and speak without thinking which then caused a rift between me and one of my besties.... but all of that is done with now, so things are back to absolute awesomeness!!

I am still meeting amazing people every week, and this last week has been particularly fortuitous in that regard........ I may or may not fill you in on further details as they arise. Let's just say there are some real sweethearts out there and I'm very happy with life right at this moment in time and we'll see how things pan out....

We've had some asshat neighbours move in next door, who have come over complaining about the music - mind you, the first one was at 6pm (YES, SIX IN THE AFTERNOON) and it was Jack Johnson (chilled) and not even loud, come on!!!!! They called the cops, who came around and admitted to us that the music was not even loud (I clarified that with them about 5 times "So you're not telling me it's loud are you?" and they were like "No. but we just have to respond to every call" Apparently they were called like 5 times and they drove past and couldn't hear any music so didn't even come in but eventually they thought they would. Wat a bunch of c#nts these neighbours are. So of course then we are going to push them now to the point of breaking. Especially considering John had gone around there the previous night after they complained to us and invited them to come in so we could together find an 'acceptable' noise level that we were all happy with. They declined, then called the cops the next day. Lack of respect much? The night the cops came we ended up beind LOUDER, ROWDIER AND LATER than before, just to spite the bastards next door. If they want to play hardball, BRING IT!

Anyway folks, ive got to get to the shops and take some of my wholebean coffee to get ground - I've run out the last couple of days which has been far from pleasant. Luckily I've been distracted enough not to care too much lol

Oh and I still haven't received any mixtape CD's people. Don't make me come down there and hurt you. Gosh i wish you all weren't so far away.......

OK then, look after each other and maybe I'll see you soon.

Lotsa love

PS HI Mel's friend, next time you stop by leave me a comment :p lol

Mwah

Eh hi folks whats doin?

I feel like I'm living on another planet from my old life....
Every day here is amazing. Mt Isa is absolutely fabulous.

I'm so busy working and partying all the time and i am so so happy and grateful for my lot in life at the moment.

So I mentioned in my last post that John had literally just cut his hair off that day
..

He has now gone from this:

To This

At first I was devastated to see the hair go, but i must admit I've kind of gotten used to it now. I'm still waiting for MY haircut though......

That there is our happy little household. We 're having loads of fun.

The neighbours love Mary but John and I are the rowdy neighbours from hell I think LOL.

We bought a ridiculously massive TV the other day. Considering i gave my TV away when I left Ballina because I don't even WATCH tv, it's out of control. But it will be MADDD to watch DVD's on. I don't know if you can even really tell the size from this pic, but it looks kinda like this:

Off the charts!!!

Ah well, we had a staff party last nite at the irish where i proceeded to get very intoxicated and I appear to have come home without my mobile phone. I'm hoping it's still there somewhere. I better get organised and walk into work, pick up my car and hopefully my phone...

Oh and I'd love some new tunes if anyone would like to send me a CD ???? The music store here is crap! John's been raping the Itunes store a bit lately instead... but all y'all who are/know DJ's (and I think you know who you are) pllllllllllllllllleeeeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaaassssssseee send me something???? PO Box 1758 Mt Isa QLD 4825. Don't be afraid to use it :)

L O V I N L I F E ! ! ! !

Hey hey beautiful people

It's been a damn hectic week since I last posted.

My furniture finally arrived on Sunday afternoon, and I no sooner got it all unloaded and stashed in Odin & Daniels place before I had to move it all again to my new place!!!!

I'm excited about having somewhere to put all my crap but sad to be leavin the boys too, they have been awesome housemates. But I guess now instead of housemates, they will just be my mates so that's cool and we will still hang together. I like to think of their place as my 'other home' and I still have a key and a toothbrush in the bathroom hahahaha.

John and I have a cool new pad, it's not big but its got everything we need. We still have to get the lounge, fridge and washing machine over here from my 'other home' so it will be sweet when we have set it all up. And we have Mary camping on the couch too, she works at the Irish and she's a great gal. Every thing is still all over the place, can't wait til it looks a little less like a bomb hit it.

I've started working at the Irish Club as a bar wench and I'm loving it, it's great fun. So that's been keeping me kind of busy too. It's a real eye opener being on that side of the bar for a change, but I love it heaps. I made a fartload of tips last nite too which was awesome. Gloria Jeans rang me and offered me a job too, but the Irish pays more and it's a great change anyway.

I've met heaps of people and still having loads of fun, maybe too much? (Who decides how much is too much anyway?!?!?!?!)

My nights have pretty much consisted of this type of behaviour, just your typical Tuesday night in Mt Isa hahahaha

Hilarity and shenanigans abound LOL

Lizzie is a bloody crack up.

I was working last night til about 1.30am, Odie and some mates had come in after the races and were downstairs at the 'nightclub' at the Irish, so I headed down after work and we all partied a bit, ended up at The Club as you do. It was a different experience doing it all sober cause pretty much every time I've been there I've been fairly tanked haha, but cause i didn't even start until 2am, I only had 3 drinks all night. The Club shut at about 5 am ish and we went back to some friends place and i finally got in the door at about 6.30 this morning hahaha. Fun times, happy days.

After that night, you can imagine I had a pretty cruisy day today then after i woke up. I spent some time with Bella which was great, she's so adorable, I really love that kid. OH AND JOHN CUT HIS HAIR OFF THIS AFTERNOON....................hmmmm is all I can say at this stage. Anyway, I really need to go and finish putting my bed together so I'll sign off for now.

Love and miss you all, but life is bloody brilliant right now. I love this town, and I am having the best time of my life. Every day just gets better and better, it's crazy!

Ciao

Where the hell is my furniture???

The removalists STILL havent arrived..... first they said wednesday, then thursday, then that they would get into town last night and deliver this morning..... no sign of em yet tho.... I've rung them but no answer...... HAVE THEY RUN OFF WITH MY STUFF??

Still lovin life here in the Isa. I feel like I've been here forever, like it is so very much my home, it's great. I've unpacked and tried to repack my car in a more orderly fashion haha and working out where the hell all my shit is going to go when it gets here. If it gets here lol

Oh btw, Odie is now my husband - he's been chatting to/up one of the neighbours and her husband got the shits (as you would), cracked it a little and wasn't speaking to the boys and giving them evils. Now that I'm here and he thinks I am Odie's wife, he is all friendly again. LOL how funny. We also have to play happy families to look at a house on Monday for the four of us... when Odie told the real estate he was looking for a 4br house, she made an assumption "Oh, for the wife and kids?" haha he just kind of went along with it. I'd say we've got a better chance of getting it that way, they'd probably rather rent to a 'family' than a bunch of singles i guess. Fingers crossed, cause the house sounds awesome - 2 storey, pool etc.

So there are now two dirt bikes (not sure if thats the correct nomenclature but anyway) in our living room, Daniel bought one as well.

Odie & Daniel went out for a spin the other day, and Odie was 'showing Daniel how to ride', doing a massive mono and then the bike flipped and he skidded along the dirt for a bit. Apparently a close call, he could have been seriously broken, he couldn't breathe for a bit. When they got back, Od was orange with the red dirt all over his face and everything - he had ripped his pants and shirt and has a MASSIVE cut/graze down his back, and his elbows too. It's insane. And kinda gross. But of course, being a boy, he's quite proud of his war wounds haha. I get the joy of changing the dressing on it for him and inflicting pain with the dettol. Pictures to come - i lost my camera for a day or two so I've only got a photo on my phone at this stage.

EDIT: Here's a photo, mind you, that's now after 5 days of 'healing' Ouch much??

But I do have some other photos: Our first dinner together on Monday nite (spag bol of course)

Some photos from outside the front of our house:

The Racecourse is across the road (lots of DIRT) and home to the big Mt Isa Rodeo, something to look forward to in August!

I think it's a water tower on the hill (above) and the rolling hills below.

Havent been getting much sleep - Daniel keeps me awake all night chatting in my ear LOL and we've been partying a bit this week, having loads of fun . Last night we went around to a friends place - played some music, sat around a bonfire, drinking etc it was pretty fun, then Od and I went to the nightclub at the Irish, then on to "The Club" afterwards (where everyone goes at the end of the night, its the last place open).

Photos from last night:

urghhh not a good look (for me) Od looks good tho. And this was EARLY in the night....

Those boys were crazy last night. The dog was gorgeous though. His name is Padlock haha

Sam and Daniel. You are a fool, boy

Oh dear

Nah it was a good night though. I do feel a little seedy today however. The boys have gone to watch a mate play soccer. And I'm still waiting for these damn removalists to turn up.

In the beginning

Welcome!!!
I've created this blog to co-incide with the beginning of my new life here in Mt Isa. Being the queen of reinvention that I am, I began this new chapter of my life on finally arriving last night on my road trip from Ballina. Odin's bike followed me here safely on the trailer, I dropped it off here at my new home and went and met John at the Irish where we made a killing on the pokies!!!! Awesome! First night here and I'm already making money.
I was serious when I said there was a Donna shaped hole here in the Isa just waiting for me to get here and fill it and I CAN'T WAIT to get on with my new life. There is just so much opportunity here and I'm really excited at what the future holds.
So if you have any linkages, link to me here. Of course I will still be on Myspazz and Facebook but its here I'll be blogging.
OK I will get back to you all later and keep you updated on happenings in the wonderful world of Mt Isa.

Love ya's
